Just got my fiancees grandfathers 1968 14-16' Sea King with a 40HP Johnson. The motor looks in good shape. Boat was parked in 1988. I haven't tried the motor yet. I don't want to break something. Any advise? I know it needs plugs, start sylinoid. Wiring is decent. has no fuel tank. I have alot of mechanic skill but on cars. Thanks

first get some oil on the pistons (2 cycle oil ), do some easy crank overs,( put a wrench on the flywheel nut and slowly turn the crank, clockwise.) you will have to rebuild the carbs, and make sure you double oil the gas for the first two to three tank fulls. I would also replace all the fuel lines, and keep a eye on the fuel pump they dry out sometimes.

Thanks I printed them and will use them to help me. It will be a slow process, Due to money issues. I found a running 35HP sea king for $100. Thinking about the easy way out.
