help removing drive shaft 96-150

i have a 1996 evinrude 150. i am replacing the lower unit. i have removed the old lower unit from the engine but cannot remove the drive shaft from old lower unit. any help is appreciated. thx
 
My guess is you have the split shaft versions.
If you just need to shift the upper drive shaft from old to new, just 'force' the drive shaft out.
(hang the housing in a vice clamped around the shaft, give the housing a short but hard knock)
That will at the same time ruin the sleeve holding it in the old housing, but will not affect the shaft.
