Backfiring after running fine. 1996 90hp

New member
1996 90 HP. Replaced waterpump and thermostats. Ran on muffs for 20 mins with no problem. Stopped and installed new kill switch as old one was no good. Broken in theopen position. After that I found a huge ant nest in the key switch. Replaced the key switch one wire at a time. Now the engine doesn't start and backfires. Has spark. What is going on??
Any suggestions?

re-look at that key switch.......have u been tinkering w/electrics,at the eng??..coil wires,etc,.../
