I bought this engine late last Summer and it worked great. I just put it back in the water for the season and had a hard time starting it. When it finally started it ran fine for about a minute and then started to sound funny and smoked before stalling. The oil reservoir had lots of oil in it but I'm thinking that perhaps the water intake was clogged to make it over heat like that. Since I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to outboared engines I was wondering what my next step should be? Does this sound like a piston isssue? Will I need to rebore the cylinders and is it worth the expense for an engine that is this old? Any advice will be very much appreciated.
