I just bought a boat with a '97 DT30C 30 HP, 3-cylinder, 2-stroke motor. Manual tilt/trim.
All seems fine, except that the motor doesn't ever release itself to be tilted. I'm presuming that the latch should close when I'm in reverse, but release in neutral or forward - is that true? If so, what is the mechanism that releases the latch? I don't see anything that would do that, even if I look at the parts diagram for that area of the motor.
