I need the lower unit to change my motor from a long shaft type to a short shaft type. I will buy or partial trade my unit for it. Does anyone know where to get one? Michael 1.
 
You do not need a lower unit. You need a shorter driveshaft, either a shorter water tube or cut the one you have exactly 5 inches, either a shorter shift connector OR a shorter shift rod OR cut the present shift rod exactly 5 inches and file a groove near the top for the connector bolt, and possibly a shorter retaining bolt (lower unit to exhaust housing). A common procedure.

Possibly someone will fill this in with part numbers etc.... I'm unable to get at my books right now due to the alarm being set.
