Evinrude 1983 15hp fuel pump

Re Evinrude O/B 15hp 1983 Rope start Model E15BACTA; Can anyone confirm that fuel pump Pt. No. 312631 which is fitted to my engine has been replaced by fuel pump Pt. No. 0397839 as the latter is the only pump I can find at the moment. The fuel filter part of 0397839 looks different to my present pump.

I don't know where you got the number of 312631 from unless it is a casting number on the original pump. It is not listed in any parts or price book.

The original part number and superseded numbers for the fuel pump of a 1983 15hp Evinrude/Johnson are 391638 - 395091 - 397274 - and finally to 397839.

Bottom line..... The proper part number for the 1983 fuel pump is 397839.

joereeves, thanks for your reply. As you say the number on my pump must be a casting number.

If the number of 312631 is imprinted on the fuel pump body somewhere, it is no doubt a casting number, otherwise it would surely be listed in one of my books..... it is not.
