Indmar TBI fuel Pump?

Just bought a 1996 Mastercraft with a Indmar GM 350 EFI motor.

Number 3 cyn. was dead and we did a port head repair for an intake valve that was warped...probably from a previous overhead issue.

Engine was running fine, a little shake from the dead cyn. at idle before the repair.

We start it up after the head work and the engine is running fine over 1000 rpms...but won't idle...goes from 600 to 1000 rpm's at idle.

We repalaced filter on engine and at tank. We put old ones back on, still had problem.

The TBI electric fuel pump is running hot....the flow back to the tank seems very little.

Before we get another TBI electric fuel pump...any othe ideas on what we should do???

Thanks in advance for any suggestions....

check the supply line to make sure the pump isn't starving - that can cause both symptoms (little return and hot pump). Could be pinched hose, malfunctioning shutoff valve, or stuck anti-syphon valve. Could also be due to air leak in supply line.

The instable idle could be a separate issue or could be related to the fuel. have you checked the fuel pressure at the TBI? checked the IAC motor?
