Recently bought a used 14' boat with a Johnson 4.0 on it.
The motor starts fine, but when I switch it into gear and start accellerating, the boat vibrates rapidly and bounces around, getting worse the faster I go. 10 mins later it was a lot worse with grinding noises, and I could hear the boat slipping in and out of gear. Shortly after, the motor would not switch into gear at all. Still starts fine! I checked the pin in front of the prop to make sure it was still intact. Does anyone know what is wrong with it and what I may need to fix it?
