Hello everyone.
I am putting the lower together on this outboard. The gears were blown when I got this outboard.
I got some used gears from a 1996 175 fast strike. Both gears crossed to the 9020 gears.
I have assembled the lower, but the prop shaft has .040 to .050 backlash in both forward and reverse, checking on the prop spline of the prop shaft.
I would think the shift dog would allow some slop in this reading.
The drive shaft also moves up and down .050.
Does this seem normal?
