1996 Evinrude Intruder 150hp

Had my boat out over the weekend and noticed a big increase in gas consumption, along with a smell of gas while at low speeds, but no evidence of gas leaking anywhere around engine or in the water when idling. Where do I start?

Don't know what boat you have but have you checked the bilge area? If you have a fuel filter/water separator below decks you might have a leak somewhere on one of the fittings or a leak in the gas line allowing gas to flow into the bilge. I'd sure find out where it was going before taking the boat out again. Good luck.
