In general, most everything from the modern era will interchange. The notable exception is the fourstrokes won't interchange with the two strokes. If the only difference is the first letter of the model number they will interchange for sure
 
50's and 60's units will and even some of them will interchange between HP. The early 10HP models would fit the early 15-18 HP models but later were down rated to the 5.5 - 7.5 models. Mid 50's to mid 60's 30 -40 HP would interchange although the water pump housings changed from single line to double line. Could even use some of the Gale models.
 
Thanks,I have a evinrude modle 35952A that I WOULD LIKE TO FIND A LOWER UNIT FOR. Because the foward gear and cluchdog are bad from what I was told on this forum and that is correct,I thought I could change the unit easier than replacing the parts and maybe at less cost. Please reply,thanks.
