97 evinrude not firing

from a cold start it will not fire but if you start on it for a while it will fire and start up and run good and start good for the rest of the day.. if let set overnight it will not fire again until you start on if for awhile. any ideas
 
Sounds like you might not be priming it enough.
I turn on my key and then depress it for an 8 count. That is always preceded by pumping up the primer bulb.
