Spark Plugs Dry

Good morning:

Started my Tohatsu 20 HP 4 stroke two days ago, it would run but only with the choke set 1/2 way. The next day, it tries to "catch", but it will not. Fuel is new and I can trace gas to the bottom of the carb, but the spark plugs are completely dry even after multiple attempts to start. Dealership can't get to it for a while, anything a semi skilled novice can try to get it running for Memorial Day. Thanks

Sounds like a gummed-up carb. You will want someone familiar with that sort of technology to investigate.

If you dont know how dangerous atomised fuel is stop reading now !!!

Firstly drain the carbs and fuel lines and refill by turning the key to start for a few seconds.
put some new fuel in an empty triger spray ie the ones you use for cleaning products etc.
now take of the air filter cover, get someone to turn the key to start, spray atomised fuel into the carb mouths, 3 or 4 sprays.
this will start the outboard for a short time and sometimes it will start to clear the blocked jets.
try this a few times but only the start and spray part.
This works because the the engine creates a vacume in the carbs and can sometimes be enough to clear the main jets.
If you set your self on fire you didnt read the top part If you dont know how dangerous atomised fuel is stop reading now !!!!
