Anyone added a trim switch at the transom? 1997 150hp

I have a 1997 150 2-stroke, and miss having a trim switch at the transom. I see there are aftermarket switches available for about $25, wondered if anyone here had ever added one, and how difficult it is.

Looks like all you have to do is run a fused hot wire to the battery, and then a wire to the "UP" spot on the solenoid and one to the "DOWN" connector on the solenoid.

Yamaha also makes a similar part, but their instructions and part numbers are quite confusing...

Here is the unit that is about 25 bucks

Easy as in connect it at the solenoid as mentioned above or splice into the wire elsewhere? The kit only comes with 18 inches of wire so I am going to have to add some wire, just not sure what the best place to connect it is.

At the controls at the helm? Do I need a long run all the way to the binnacle?

Does anyone know if you can just wire this switch directly to the contact points on the block where the lines from the trim solenoid terminate? I'm trying to do this without splicing wires in the control harness.
