Clinton motor
Model is k500 1106A
S/n 431390
type 60-27205R

What year is this motor?

No nothing about this motor, picked it up for 160.00

Runs great and starts great

Question
I believe this is air cooled, does it need to be in water when starting?

Question,
Does this take any lower unit grease? I don'd r see a fill hole, just 4 bolts to take off lower unit ( ithink)

Question
I want to reset the carb screw, coughs alittle. Whats the prcedure? or turns?

Thank you

What ratio to use for gas/oil?

Ok, I took off the 4 bolts on the bottom of lower unit and there is no oil just grease for the gears? I guess this type only requires grease than oil, will try to take old grease out and replace wiht regular wheel bearing grease!!!????

Unless somebody else can steer me the right way.

Drop me an email at [email protected] (can make your motors model number the subject) and I will send you a copy of an original owners manual from Clinton.

Just a few pages but has a parts list and "tune up" directions for setting the carb, fuel mix etc.

Can't give you a year without the "Wards" model number.

The K500's started production in 1972 and continued until 1976.

Don't start it "out of water" just incase.

The model 500 is purely air cooled, the model 500a (also carried by wards) is a "blended" air and water cooled motor.

I have never been able to figure a way to distinguish (simply by model number, serial etc) between the two, so will send you both manuals and you can figure out what exactly you have...
