I have dual engines and dual battries connected by a solenoid that connects the two for starting only. I would like to connect the house load to both battries, however, I would like to install diodes to keep the systems seperate. What kind of diode should I use or is there another way?
 
I would just install a second battery on the house side and connect together + to +
- to - and leave the other engine on one by itself. that the way mine is !
 
I will keep this in mind. Right now I will just put a switch between the two and try to remember to switch it once in a while. Your Idea is plan B.
