alarm 1991 90 hp

I have a 1991 mercury 90 HP 3 cylinder.I bought 2 months,Did all new seals and water pump in lower unit when I first got it.Motor ran great everytime I took it out.I just put the ears on it to run it since I haven't took it out in a week,with in 2 minutes of it running the alarm sounded off.It is peeing very good but water coming out was very hot.I shut it off,and it stopped,but when I just turn the key one click it sounds off again.without motor even running.going to let it sit to cool down to see if it goes off with it cold.thinking its overheat but I have no clue.Any help will be very appeciated.Thanks in advance for any info.

I apologize.I had a kink in my hose, so it wasn't letting enough water out,Well now I know my alarm works,Sorry LOL

You might have wasted a pump.

I agree with timebandit, go ahead and change the pump again. If not enough water going in, it will quickly toast the pump.
