No water thru yamaha sterndrive

Hi, I am not getting any water to the engine from the stern drive. I have disconected the hose at the transom inisde the boat, can flush water from there thru the engine, but when I put the rabit ears on the bottom of the sturn drive, no water comes thru trasom. any ideas on a easy fix. Thanks
 
The Yamaha sterndrives, well, at least mine, don't have a water pump in the leg. The raw water pump is mounted port side forward on the engine, belt-driven.
The Yamaha pump is very expensive but if you search on Sherwood pumps they are still available through them, as are rebuild kits.
 
Got it fixed !!!! My father in law pulled the stern drive off, there was about 6 inches of dried salt water sludge in the stern drive....took a drill and about half hour with a screw driver to chip it all out. got it back togher.....great water flow now!!!! will be in the lake tom.!
