Wiring Question 1993 115 hp

I have a 1993 115hp Mercury with Quicksilver control. There is a white with blue strip wire in the harness from the control to the dash but is not hooked up to anything. Can someone tell me what this wire is for or what it should be connected to?

Thanks for the speedy reply. Is it supposed to be connected to the trim gauge? I have a trim gauge but it is not working. It has a brown wire connected to the sender terminal (ground wire and instrument light are also connected). The gauge reads full up no matter what position the motor is in. Is it possible that the white/blue should be connected instead of the brown? If so I guess my next question would be what is the brown wire?

I have a Mercury repair manual bu unfortunatly it does not have a schematic for the controller.

If not mistaken that wire is for over-ride of the trim limit.
Peaking instruments are normally a sign of missing/failing ground.
