holy crap. you are spot on with the info. the guy who bought the boat originally is a friend of the family. very little use. Sat under an oak tree for years.

Is this model a good design/reliable?

Ooops, I mean, terrible and dangerous engine - you should send it to me and I will store it safely (on the back of my small rig) so you don't get injured using it


Seriously, if properly maintained - and it this case, proper prep before firing it up since it has been sitting - you could probably pass this particular model down to your grand-kids....."

Have you recently bought an outboard used? I wouldn't be too surprised if it's the same engine as over the years of helping someone find their engine year, there have been a few duplicates accidently found while searching either the serial or model number posted one place or another online.

Sometimes the model number comes up while searching a serial number. For the most part the model number is just the actual part number of the entire engine package Mercury uses to help keep track of their products made.
