"Hi, Can anyone help me. I have an old MD1 which chugs on and on but at 50 years old I'm frightened to look too deep and am wary of pulling injector etc for servicing lest I end up with no engine! I have also an Md1B which was seized but have replacement piston and cylinder. Its in kit form at moment and water cooled manifold is probably beyond repair. Looks like frost damage. Any ideas on where to get hold of a replacement. Or can I fit a dry manifold and resite the thermostat on front of cylinder head like the older MD1.
Can anyone give me details?advice about reasembling block and head. I have read that I may need spacers for below cylinder. Also I dont know what the head gasket is like. I could make a copper one but dont know about thickness or if a composite gasket is required.
Last question! Are the gearboxes in both engines interchangeable and what advantages are there in the MS box on the MD1B.
