"I have a 1995 Bass Tracker TX-17 with a Mariner 40 ELO. We were in the water for about three minutes when the motor suddenly seemed to loose power. We could keep the engine running in the full-throttle position but the engine would just chug. We shut it down for a bit and then started the engine and it ran fine for about 3 minutes until the problem resurfaced. Since this problem we: cleaned both carbs, changed fuel filter, new plugs, and we still have the same symptoms. When running, it runs great. I did notice a difference in the spark plugs we removed, #2 & #4 seemed much cleaner. I think I have an electronic issue, just not sure what. Please advise if anyone knows...Thank you!"

"Still sounds like a fuel issue to me.

You could be losing fuel pressure (air leak) in the line from the tank - bad fitting - toasted primer bulb.

Or, could be a bad fuel pump diaphram.

Try pumping the fuel bulb on the gas line when she starts gasping - if that helps, repair the fuel pump..."
