Starting lehman engines

Bought a 42ft boat with twin 2

Bought a 42ft boat with twin 225 diesel lehman engines. Alittle hard to start want to know if there is warm up position for engines before you start? Also white smoke comes from both anything I should check first?

"I also have a boat with turbocharged 225 Lehman. I find it starts best with full throttle while turning on the starter, then immediately back off when it starts to fire. There is a thermostatically controlled enrichment device next to the injector pump which may need adjustment. Here in Maine we pull out by Nov 1 so don't use the boat much below 35 F."
 
My boat has the SP 225s also. I have had it since new in 1986 and have never had to do anything special to start the motors. Throttles at idle and they fire up just fine. No warm up position. For the white smoke, check the trouble shooting section in your engine manual.
