My motor only p's water wh

My motor only p's water when the thermostats are open. I can see the water pressure gauge move slightly when idling so I can tell its pumping. Can I hook the tattle tale line to the same hose as the water pressure gauge so it p's all the time? Or is it supposed to be connected to the t-stat line?
 
Hook the PSI gauge to the bloc

Hook the PSI gauge to the block connection. Most 2.xL's have a 1/2" plug at the top almost under the flywheel. Use the 1/8" adaptor. Or there may be a hose there for the poppit/bypass to tee into. This motor only p's water when the thermostats are open. There will be no pressure on these hoses. Only scalding water.
