What is a good carburetor cleaning method. I would guess that it can be done buy running the motor. But with what chemical + new gas. Or is this an unbolt and clean the internal parts.

"It is best to disassemble and clean all the parts.

Alcohol is a good solvent for gasoline 'varnish'.

Carburetor cleaner is very strong and will take your skin off, it is NOT recommended to soak marine carburetors in this chemical.

There are many tiny passageways in the body and throat that must be cleaned out. Compressed air or Canned 'air' can help as well as aerosol Carb Cleaner (like B12). Monofilament or pure copper wire could be used with caution not to enlarge or scratch passages.

BF100 has a simple carb (no accel pumps) and is easy to do, but time consuming due to all the 'tiny' passages.

A 'quick and dirty' method to get you fishing quickly:

Buy an aerosol Carburetor Cleaner AND about 15" or 20" of vinyl tubing same outer size as the 'spray tube' that comes with the can.

Make (use a little heat) a 90° bend in the last 1/8" of the tubing.

First drain the carburetor and then use the tube to spray inside the throat (venturi) directly into the main jet and idle jets around the butterfly, then close the carburetor drain and allow the aerosol cleaner to fill the carburetor completely.

You can then start (will run on carb cleaner) the engine and if you're lucky, you can avoid disassembly with this trick."
