Boat smoking 1993 75 hp

maybe someone has a idea what this could be i took the boat out today its a 93 murcury 75 hp it started up right away a sounded good i got the speed up and it ran good but once i slow down it started sounding like it was going to die and was smoking alot and in idle position it smoked alot also and died on me but it did start right back up any idea's will be greatly appreciated

If it is white it could be a head gasket or the engine getting good and hot (If your alarms are hooked up the high temp probably would have gone off at that point). Next time you run it just put your hand in the tell-tail stream and make sure it's not hot enough to burn you.
I recently dealt with a similar problem and it was the head gasket leaking when the engine got hot. Eventually turned out to be the poppet valve (wrong one installed) that caused the problem.
