"motor seems to idle fine, but

"motor seems to idle fine, but as I accelerate it cut on and off only for a split second. It will do it multiple times. If I ease into the throttle I can get it not to do it. Any ideas?

91 or 92 225 yamaha"
 
sounds like the timer base sti

sounds like the timer base sticking or you have carb problems
