I see you have run accross the marinshopen.se website which is written in one of the scandinavian languages (Sweedish I think).

I do beleive it roughly translates into "same model" which would be indicative of the 1980 and 81 models which were not distinguished in any manner by Merc - they were all considered the same model year...

benjamin_jones I know what you mean, When I seen this Question I went on the google search, It was hard to make out with all the Sweedish talk going on, But I thought I did find the right answer while reading between the lines of it all
