Hello everyone. New to the boa

Hello everyone. New to the board here. I recently aquired an atlas marine royal 5 outboard. Model# 5D10A Serial# 548166. I was wondering if anyone could help me identify what year this motor is. Also where I may obtain any literature or manuals. Any help or discussion about this motor would be great. Thanks.

"Daniel: I'm new here as well and stumbled upon your post while doing research of my own. The Atlas Royal brand was manufactured by Gale Manufacturing (A Division of OMC). Manuals can be found at Ken Cook Company (http://www.outboardbooks.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=items.main&boat=GP%20Atlas%2FR oyal&orderby=model). It appears your Atlas was built between 1951-54 according to his website. My son is restoring a 5 HP 2A7 which was made a year or two earlier.
We're still trying to find a hint of the original color scheme."

Thanks for the response. Altho

Thanks for the response. Although aged mine still has all of the decals and paint on it. The upper shroud is faded somewhat but the paint on the engine itself is in great shape. It is all red with white lettering with blue outline. If you think this is simillar to yours I could upload some photos.

"Not 100% sure but likely your motor is a 54 (based on serial numbers of other size motors). Definitely made by Gale which was part of OMC. Try http://discount-marine-parts.com/index.html for manuals. The link Phil provided would be another source for manuals. Also try http://www.aomci.org/ in the Ask-A-Member section and post your request for information and any manuals that someone might have ready for downloading. Either Phil or Daniel might find someone with a picture of their motors over at http://www.aomci.org/."

I too found a royal 5 hp boat motor. I traded 4 lawn tractor tires for it thinking it was just scrap aluminum but it looks like it just needs cleaned up. The model # is 2AT and serial is 301702. This has 2 spark plugs and the fuel tank is on top of motor. Any advice on this motor ....was it a good motor? Can parts be found if I decide to restore it?
