Will remote from 1975 115 work with a 74 50hp

"New to the site and suffering from imput overload. Great wealth of info, Just got a gift from neighbor that was going to get fined for boat being parked on grass on the side of his garage. There is no key, if the controls will not flip can I swap the ignitions in order to have a key.

"My '75 115's control's were taken apart for the first time a couple of years ago, but were still working. I found that the original grease in the cam section had become rock hard and had a difficult time getting and wasn't 100% successful.
If the controls are stuck, could be cables or hardened grease in the command box."
