"I seem to be missing the timing indicator,(pointer) for this engine. Im guessin its just a pointer that is attached to the threaded boss at the top rear part of the block. If Im right, has anyone got a pic of it. I figure it shouldnt be to hard to make one. If Im wrong how about enlightening me. Thanks!!"

"That's not something to guess at. I recommend you TDC the motor instead. Pull the top plug and find out where TDC is (where the piston is all the way up). Move the flwheel back and forth to verify that you have the piston all thew way up, then fashion a pointer to point where the 0 degrees mark is on the flywheel.

A timing light will allow you to set the timing dead on. I usually remove the carb arm to allow full throttle withut opening the carbs.
