2007 mercury 35 hp 4 stroke bogs on acceleration and dies

i bought this engine a few months ago used and it idled fine and seemed to be okay at the time. Now im getting it ready for use and it wont ilde smooth and on acceleration it bogs out and dies unless it is choked.. do i need to remove the carb and dip it for a few hours to clean out any varnish that may have blocked it up? Or is there something im not doing right.? thanks.. ive read a bunch on this motor.

"Yes - but a simple dip will probably not do it. Sounds like a gummed low speed jet.

Tear her down, soak it and clean out the channels as well. If the needle valves are distorted at all (should look like an extremely sharp pencil point), replace them, they are only a couple bucks a piece.

Once you get it sorted out, run fresh "stablized" gas all the time. The stablizer will help prevent future gum problems, since even if you turn off the fuel (if equipped with a fuel cock) and let the motor "die", there still will be some gas left in the carb..."
