I purchased a boat during last year with a merc 115 (fairly old model). how do I find the year and mosel number? HELP PLEASE! if anyone can help I will be able to email a pic tou you."

Is it 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder?

Standing behind the motor (looking at the prop) you can check on RIGHT side of the leg, right up near the bottom cowl where the motor connects to the bracket that holds it on the boat.

There (should) be a sticker there with the serial number on it."

"I think you have it pegged correctly - mid to late 80's based on the cowl...

If you can find no serial anywhere on the motor I can sometimes narrow down the model year within a year or two based on the carb.

Walbro casts the carb model right into the carb body and since Merc changed them out every second year or so the numbers change slightly.

For example, a WME-21B was used on the 1989/90 models...."
