"It is old, it is brown, one cylinder and has a gas tank that fits around the flywheel NOT covering it. it has a 6 digit number under the transum. 552170 it is small.

"Given the color, the OMC style recoil bracket on top of the flywheel and the OMC style clamps I would make it to be a Gale model. Single cylinder - 1.5 HP to 3HP. Late 40's to early 60's. Look on top of the transom mount for a data plate. Appears to have 4 rivets on the flat just above the clamps. Without the data plate numbers it will be difficult to determine the exact year, model, HP and which distributor sold it. 552170 maybe nothing more than a part casting number."
