"I just completed a repower of my boat with new twin 4JH4-HTE engines. They are new and, so far, only have a few hours so I am still very much in the break in process. This the first time I have owned Yanmars so I'm not at all used to them.
At cold start up they seem, at least to me, to smoke quite a bit. As they come up to temperature is subsides quite a bit but there is still some. An old boater friend advised me that "Yanmars always smoke at start up until they get good and broken in and then settle down".
Is this correct or is there something I should be looking at?
