Does Tohatsu make a replacemen

Does Tohatsu make a replacement skeg? If not would a replacement from somewhere like skeg depot match?

No outboard manufacturer offers replacement skegs...They all recommend housing replacement due to deformation during the welding process. Basically the heat of the weld can take the housing out of round causing gear and bearing failure. If the gear housing is completely disassembled and is cooled while having a skeg welded on it would probably be safe.

An experienced welder (stress experienced) should be able to work this without deforming the housing. I'm just trying to find a cast replacement piece. Would you recommend a suitable cast aluminum replacement manufacturer since there is a market?

"I wouldn't have a skeg welded so I can't recommend a brand. However, I don't think that the brand matters. It's not the skeg that's the issue, it's the heat transfer to the housing that's the problem."
