I have an 8hp Tohatsu long sha

I have an 8hp Tohatsu long shaft 2 stroke as the aux on my TS. Very happy with it in general except for a high pitched ringing noise at about 1/4 throttle. This is at about 5 knots boat speed & right about where I like to use it. Any ideas on how to get rid of it?
another quickie - I've been told the 8 is easily converted to a 10 - is this so?}

No on the conversion. The engine shouldn't be making that noise. I would run it by a dealer and see if they can determine if it is a harmless harmonic or if you have something rubbing.

thanks - will take it to a dealer once the xmas closures finish. It doesn't sound mechanical so the harmless harmonic is likely - if so is there a way to silence it?
