Evinrude 50 hp VRO question

This is either an 1986 or 89.

This is either an 1986 or 89. I need to disconnect the VRO to mix own fuel. Does anyone know how to disconnect it?

"yep,excellent article....unfortunately,most people do not want to spend the money,or time,to do the maintenance on the vro/oms system,so for many,many people,its a wise decision to remove the oiling function and premix..i see many 20 y/o and older vro pumps still in service,i have also seen blown eng's,due to clogged intake screen,and no warning system active....its a personal decision,i install and up-keep many,as well as remove many....one of the area's i am 'mid-way' on."

After all I see the parts but I feel preventive and informative care is Key also.

OMC make a conversion kit just for replacing the VRO pump also.
