"Hello John, that was built in 1985 but did not change when Merc launhed the "new" 1986 models (86 was a major year for Merc in which they marketed an entirely new line of motors, scrapping many of the earlier models).

That model run (the XR2, Marathon and Magnum I models) stayed virtually unchanged up until mid 1994 when they relaunched most of their models again.

Your Mariner model was just a Merc painted the Mariner gray, so all parts are the same as the 150 (2.0L) Merc's of the same vintage, and about 95% of the parts are the same as the 135 Mercs (which shared a powerhead, ignition etc with the 2.0 liter 150's)."
