"Hi..I've read the evinrude site about oil ratios..but does this include motors this old? I've been running it at 20:1, and it seems to be okay. It's a model HA 10, serial 352482."

According to Peter Hunn's

According to Peter Hunn's The Old Outboard Third Edition the original ratio for the HA10 was 1/2 pint of 40 weight oil per gallon. This comes with the disclaimer that the data is "listed as a convenient reference only. Always check the Operators' Manual". That would put the ratio at 16:1 but with changes to the quality of oils today the 20:1 using a good TCW3 oil should be fine. Until I looked for an answer for your question I had not known that OMC recommended SAE30 for some motors and SAE40 for others. Now I need to find the answer to why they did that.

"Thanks for the info Curt. I sorta thought 20:1 would be alright, but it doesn't hurt to make sure. I don't run the motor much, but when I do I don't want to blow it up.

thanks again, and merry christmas"
