Seawater intake hose location on 1995 74 carb model

"Cannot someone help me figure out if the hose from the water intake from the stern drive goes on the top or bottom of the water pump on a 1995 7.4 with a carb and also the water pump has the fuel pump on it also, it is so easy to get these mixed up and the drawing are different on each model."
 
"Well.. it might have an arrow

"Well.. it might have an arrow or lettering on the pump, look at the pump pulley direction. If' looking at the pump it rotates clockwise and the in and out at vertical on the LEFT side (facing) then the inlet should go on the bottom. If the in and out are on the RIGHT Side, then in should be on top.. I think most go on the bottom. (but I am not 100% sure)"

I'm just not understanding the sentance fragment.

not all boats have water "plumbing" that comes from the outdrive.

Do you mean the incoming water from the outdrive goes to the top of the impeller housing?

I see you've made over 7000 posts and been here a while.. just the sentance wasn't clearly stated.
