"Well, i'm in a bit of a jam here. Have to pull motor to replace ring gear. Was gonna pull motor over winter time to freshen anyway, but stripers are here, and didn't want to miss out on the action. My question is: if i pull the motor, and put the outdrive back on, will anything leak? I have a yamaha 9.9 kicker which pushes my 22fter just fine. Was gonna stay in the back bay with it. I feel confident running the boat with just the kicker, but wasn't sure about putting just the outdrive back on. Any thoughts on this idea?"

"you will have to seal the exhaust somehow. You will have to seal the water hose. Maybe home cheapo has a rubber cap, in 3 and 4 inch sizes.

Run it with the drive all the way up. Maybe.

You know i never heard of anyone ever doing that.

Where you at and when you want to go out i have been itching to try for some striper in raritan bay or at the hook.
