"I have heard NOT to fog the carbs on a 4 stroke. Those carbs are not supposed to have oil in them like a 2 stroke. Condition the fuel, and drain the carbs completely. The Honda manual only states the fog the cylinders."

"Ok...that puts a new slant on things...I have always used fogging oil on all of my outboards in the past and have continued that practice when I started using the 4-stroke engines. Funny thing is I've had the same carb problems with my tohatsu 30 hp 4-stroke and I've been fogging it the same way. Basically I would run the engine and shoot fogging oil into the carbs until the engine quit, then for good measure I'd shoot some fogging oil into the bowl itself through the drain port, then I'd finish up with an application of the oil in each cylinder through the spark plug hole and hand turn the flywheel...so-o-o it appears I've been my own worst enemy.... thanks for enlightening me"
