why is the charging rate of on

why is the charging rate of one battery in a 24volt engine different? one battery shows 12 volts while the other shows 15volts. what could be the problem?

Time to do a specific gravity

Time to do a specific gravity and load test on the batterys.

did a load test and found out

did a load test and found out the battery was faulty .so have changed both batteries and i still have the same problem

"Might help if you describe yo

"Might help if you describe your system. Charging system etc. You say 24 volt system but are you refering to 2 - 12 volt batteries being charged in parallel or 2 - 12 volt batteries in series .
It would seem if one of your batteries is at 15 volts. This would repersent a battery being charged at full rate by a 12 v. alternator, while the 12 v. battery as one that is not receving any charge at all.
If in fact you do have a 24 v. system with engine running , charging rate should be in the 30 v. range. Another thought. where in system are you taking your measurments ? Poor connections in paticular grounds can lead to much confussion.
Another thing to keep in mind is that to get a accurate battery test , the batterys must be isolated - slowly charged - let sit for 24 hrs. than tested. A good batttery should have a fully charged voltage of 12.6 volts.
Best luck"

thank you wasco.the charging s

thank you wasco.the charging system is 2 -12 volt batteries connected in series. and being charged by an alternator of 24 volts 25 amps. with an rpm of 1500 the batteries show a total voltage of 27 volts but when checked seperately on shows 12 and the other shows 15 volts. its a yanmar marine engine of model 6ha series.

It sounds as if you may have a

It sounds as if you may have a battery switch in place and you are testing with engine runnung?
