"I will probably change some hoses on my 2 cylinder diesel. Mostly fuel lines but also a couple of small cooling water lines too.

Some of it is orange, some black, and I think I saw a wire braided one too.

I don't know too much about the ins-and-outs of the stuff. Seems like I see several different types in the boat.

Is there a special type I should get?
Where do you typically purchase the stuff?

Marine supply stores will have

Marine supply stores will have the marine grade fuel line. They will also have water hoses but those are the same as automotive. Both fuel and water hoses deteriorate from the inside out so it is a good idea to change them periodically. With a diesel you must bleed the air bubbles out of the fuel system when ever you replace anything.
