Will converting to 12 volt ha

Will converting to 12 volt harm the existing 6 volt gauges? Will I need a resistor for the amp gauge and will the hot 12 volt lead to the temp gauge cause problems? I really don't want to destroy a $400 NOS multi-gauge. Thanks for any advice.

" The AMP meter reads amps onl

" The AMP meter reads amps only, not volts. AMPS is a term referring to so many electrons per second going past a point (into and out of the battery, but not including the starting motor). AMP meters do not care what voltage system is being used except for the lightbulb they may have for night time use ( instrument panel lamps ). The other guages ( temp and oil pressure ) do care what voltage is used. What will be needed is a voltage reducer for your guages. At one time NAPA autoparts had some voltage reducers for use with 32 volt and 24 volt systems on 12 volt Stewart Warner guages. I do not remember if 12 volt to 6 volt reducers were listed. "
