" I've got a pair of Volvo

" I've got a pair of Volvo 350's fresh water cooled. the port engine runs 160 degrees at idle or cruising, but heats up to 220 when I run between 900 - 1300 rpm. Pull the throttles back or push them foward and it cools to 160. New manifolds, risers, raw water pump, hoses, thermostat, checked the impellor, not clogged or damaged, installed correctly, pulled the heat exchanger apart and it looks good too. The starboard engine stays a steady 160. Any help is greatly appreciated.

"My money's on a restriction somewhere in the port engine's cooling system. Have you compared water flow between the two engines and sides of the port engine? Are both sides of the port V8 the same temp when it gets hot? Check the passages in the manifolds and risers for sand casting blockage. Is the flow into the port water pickup unobstructed when running at that speed?

That's all I can think of for now - good luck!
