"I think I would like to put a new v6 mercruiser into our old boat it now has a streight 6 Mercruiser 160hp in it, it is about a 69 model would the sterndrive have to be changed as well. What problems would I encounter with the motor mounts."

The inline 6 is a great engine, unless your totally inlove with the boat, you could find a boat for the same money as replacing the engine. ( and the mounts could only be fiberglassed, if it's a fiberglass boat. :)"

Ayuh,... And the I6 drive has the Short input shaft....

It's a Doable swap,...
But, I'd do it as a Driveline, for Driveline swap,...
Not piecemeal..."
