"Was going 2o knots with my boat, a single 350, when it just died. There was no gas in the carb. I pumped it and pumped it but no gas came from the jets. I have twin tanks and one was empty but the other was 3/4 full both valves were turned on. I got towed in and haven't been able to look at it yet. Where should I start."

Start with... "both valves were turned on."

You are probably sucking air into the fuel system from the empty tank. Shut the valve to the empty tank off for starters.

Fuel pump will definitely pump

Fuel pump will definitely pump from the source of less resistance which would be the empty tank.
 
why 2 valves? Usually it's

why 2 valves? Usually it's one valve. With a T. When you fill it up with gas is there 2 fill points?
